Poetry nights are held on the second Tuesday of every month (except January) and have become renowned for their welcoming atmosphere and line-up of well known poets including Les Murray, Gig Ryan, David Malouf, Judith Beveridge, Pam Brown, Kate Lilley, Joanne Burns, Peter Minter, Kate Fagan, Robert Adamson, Peter Rose, Michael Farrell, Sarah Holland-Batt and Ali Whitelock, not to mention the dozens of emerging poets that the poetry night has fostered.
The night usually features three or four poets reading their own work, followed by open mic readings. Our host is Sydney-based poet Toby Fitch, the current poetry editor for Overland and author of Rawshock, Jerilderies and The Bloomin' Notions of Other & Beau. There are a limited amount of spots available in the open mic section, so get in early by arriving by 6:45pm to sign up in person. One poem each, up to 2 minutes.
