Andy Freeborn

Andy Freeborn (they / them), is a writer, composer, performer, and pianist.

Since completing their Bachelor of Music (Music Theatre) at the Australian Institute of Music (2018), Andy has toured and performed in shows including; ‘Spiegelesque’ (Kermond Creative), ‘Kermond, Freeborn & Mahoney: LIVE!’, ‘InFlight Entertainment’ (Riley Cope Creative) & ‘Eireborne’ (Australian Tour 2022). Andy has further performed in the pit for ‘Miracle City’ under the musical direction of Max Lambert in their 2018 Opera House season, as well as Musical Directing ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, ‘The Mystery of Edwin Drood’ (Little Triangle) and ‘The Decay of Lying’ (Jess Ramsey – NIDA).

Andy’s heart lies in original work, and has recently had two workshop productions of their musical ‘Alice’ presented (2022) (Book, Music, Lyrics & Orchestrations). Their music has been heard across the East Coast in ‘Holy Ship!’, and their original material performed in Sydney in a multitude of cabarets. Andy is currently working on two new pride musicals, both which received workshop presentations at the Hayes Theatre Company in early 2022. Andy’s cabaret, ‘Brand New Dress’ premiered in The Sydney Fringe Festival ’22, and is set for the Newcastle Fringe this March, and many other festivals throughout 2023. ‘Brand New Dress’ is available for streaming wherever you listen to music.
