Brigadoon is the artist name for singer-songwriter Barnaby Smith, who is now performing with professional orchestral clarinet player (and sister) Romola Smith (recently of the Sydney Symphony, Melbourne Symphony, New Zealand Symphony, Stockholm Opera and many others). Brigadoon released the debut album Itch Factor in 2020, a lo-fi, late-night, unkempt and melancholic record that received a five-star review from, and was named a pick of the week by, from the Sydney Morning Herald. It also received airtime and high praise from radio luminaries Zan Rowe and Karen Leng. Recorded over the course of four years in a dilapidated shed in Northern NSW, Itch Factor is an exercise in soft but ambitious introspection, sweet and alluring songwriting and oceanic harmonies.
The album also nods to various aspects of the folk tradition through its lyrical preoccupations, alternative guitar tunings and somewhat warped sense of balladry. In a live setting with a clarinet player, the album’s songs take on new dimensions.
Entry is FREE and the bar will be open from 6pm.
