Jez Durant

Jez grew up in the North of England where he self-taught himself the art of the guitar. As a multi-instrumentalist he has inhabited various musical personalities while living in London UK and Sydney Australia.
Presently, he inhabits a shifting sonic territory which uses layers of acoustic and electric guitar to assemble shifting filmic landscapes. Sometimes the soundscape is laid bare with only one guitar and an insect chorus to fill the void; other times it is playful, emotional and inventive. His sound is reminiscent of the American Primitive style with nods towards Blues, Jazz, Folk, Psychedelia and ambient field recordings. The music is woven together with alternate tunings and fingerstyle picking patterns.
Over the years he has explored Hawaiian Slack Key guitar, Pacific Island String Band music, Delta Blues, Travis style picking, electronica and ambient field recordings.
He currently lives in Sydney, Australia with his wife, daughter and 2 dachshunds. Check him out at the links below:
