Lance Jurd is a local songwriter who draws on folk, country and jazz and influences such as Tom Waits, The Violent Femmes and Ennio Morricone to create his own melodic, gritty style. Having started playing music as a child on piano and then violin he turned to guitar in his early teens and by fifteen had discovered his love of song writing. Since then he has played in numerous bands, provided bass tracks on recordings by such artists as Dave Calandra and Krycha and performed extensively as a solo artist. Venues have ranged from the Central Station underpass and a lot of empty sad pubs to a regular Friday night spot at the Eveleigh Hotel in Redfern and a support gig at the Basement.
Having taken a hiatus from performing in which he dedicated himself to further developing his guitar playing and writing new material, he has a swag of new instrumentals and songs with vocals which he is looking forward to sharing with audiences.
Entry is FREE and the bar will be open from 6pm.
