The Sappho Bar and courtyard has played host to a great variety of successful events, from staff parties to book launches, even weddings, and is the perfect place for your next event! It is the perfect space for a more laid back and chill vibe.

We run on a minimum spend system rather than a venue hire fee, the details of which are below:

• Sunday, Monday or Tuesday – $2,000 minimum spend with a $500 deposit.
• Wednesday, Thursday or Friday – $3,000 minimum spend with a $500 deposit.
• Saturday – $4,000 minimum spend with a $500 deposit.

The deposit is, of course, taken off the total due at the end of the night. A minimum spend simply means the total take in food and drink at the end of the night needs to come up to this amount. This can either be by your guests paying as they go, you paying, or a combination of the two. While it rarely happens, if the total at the end of the night doesn’t meet the minimum, you just make up the difference.

We can also host weddings, for which we can work out the cost after a brief discussion with you. There is always a lot of extra preparations for weddings and wedding receptions which we need to factor in, but generally weddings at Sappho are extremely affordable and we have had fantastic feedback on the weddings we have hosted.

If you give us a general idea of which foods from the menu appeal to you, the number of guests, how many dietary requirement eaters you have and your budget, the chefs will work it all out from there. They always do a beautiful job of the catering and there’ll be something for everyone.

For book launches and author signings or similar events, we are very happy for the books to be sold on the night, and we do not take a percentage of these sales. You do have to organise your own sales person, cash float, mobile EFTPOS etc. and you can set them up on a table out the back during the function, but we can provide a PA system and lectern.
